What does your contract and cabinet specifications say about crown?

If designer measured, one or more of 3 things happened. 1, designer mis-measured or mis-specified on order to cabinetmaker. 2, cabinetmaker didn't didn't build to correct specs, or built to incorrect specs. If designer's measurements & cabinetmaker's fabrication correct, then installer erred. Isolate the source first. I had problem w/ an upper on hutch & it was corrected at no cost to me. Betw. CKD & cabinetmaker, it was made right, albeit w/ a delay while replacement manufactured. That's the way pros handle it.

Where did this coffer come from? Was it there when the site measurements were taken? Were site measurements taken? Or were the measurements taken from the building plans before the drywall and finishing touches went up? That is fairly common in a new build because of the lead time for cabinets. So if the plans indicated the ceiling height and were not correct about the finished floor to ceiling height, under the coffer, the builder is the one who goofed in his communications.
