You say it produces a red flower; a picture of the flower would be a great help when trying to identify it.

Also if you could say what size the pots are as that would give us an accurate estimation of size.

Furthermore, do the edges of the leaves have spines or are they smooth?

These are all necessary bits of the jig-saw when trying to ID your plant.
