I don't prefer the different colour island as is a current trend. I think the white island will make your space appear larger. I like the above idea of a more square island, but whatever configuration works best for your space.

Thank you for your comments! We have dark cabinets on order for the island with white Zeus silestone countertop. Now I'm having buyer's remorse, and am not sure I can change my mind after placing the order last week. I initially thought the dark island would look great but now...

I think the dark cabinetry island and white countertop you have already ordered will be fine.

i think the dark, or another color, would look good and especially if you would have a hard time matching existing older cabinets. better to be a different color than a mismatched same.

Your photos suggests a soft green aspect in backsplash and kitchen table. This being true, a deep charcoal green island would be lovely -with perhaps a grey quartz countertop.
