Looks like a sport to me. Brother Stefan's parentage is King Tut x Mildred Seaver, and that looks like neither, so it isnt reverting.

Thanks, now my question is, is how do I find out if this is a sport that is registered somewhere, how to continue it, because it is a pretty neat looking plant. I know I will need to separate it out of the rest of the plant. Thanks you for your help

Brother Stephan can't revert, as it's not a sport. It was bred (originated from a seed).

Yes you appear to have a plant that is sporting, but I'm afraid you don't have Brother Stefan there. This looks like Captain Kirk that is sporting to a white center which is not all that uncommon. The family of plants originating from Gold Standard sports quite often and that's what it looks like you have rather than Brother Stefan.

No, this isn't Captain Kirk. I also have Captain Kirk. I took a piece off this Brother Stefan, last year, a piece that didn't have the white streaks and its. I've had this one for 3 years and purchased it from a very reputable breeder, out of her own stock. So, I don't know why it would be doing this. This is a stupid question, but Savannah Supreme is right next to it, and that's a streaked could something have happened there? Only 1 eye, with about 3 leaves is doing this

Do you have a picture of the other piece of this plant? Sports can happen when plants develop new eyes that are different from the original. Some plants sport more often than others, but they do it on their own.

Yeah, on closer inspection, I think it maybe Captain Kirk...I talked to the lady I got it from, and she said she knows Brother Stefan, but she says, maybe it got mislabeled. I've counted vein pairings and this only has about 11. From what I read, Brother Stefan has 17. I have this one in pretty bright sun, so it will obviously look different from my Captain Kirk, in the shade.

I looked up the ones that were on the list for progeny of Captain Kirk and they don't see to look what I have, going here. It's frustrating, because I do not like not knowing the names of my hostas!! I have a collection of over 200 and all but a handful aren't named....I'm frustrated I had this one as Brother Stefan and it's appearing to not be, so I will have to go get it..ha ha.

I‘m new to hostas. I purchased a small plug of Brother Stefan from Gilbert Wild & Sons and planted it about 4-6 weeks ago. The other day I noticed these solid green leaves. Is this the same thing your Brother Stefan did? Did you decide it was reverting to King Tut? If so, I guess I should remove the green stem?

Yours is pretty young so I would give it time before making any decisions. Emerging leaves look quite different from mature ones. Give it time.
