Storing sprouted garlic

Hello. I've never grown garlic before and decided that I was going to plant some this fall. Then I saw some on sale online and figured I'd pick it up now so I'd be ready in a few months. Now that the garlic is here, I see that most of it has already sprouted. Does that mean I need to get it in the ground now? If I can store it instead, should I refrigerate it?

Thanks for your help!
