Those look like pole beans to me, not bush beans. I would definitely give them support.

Concur: I have not grown Cherokee Wax, but those do look like runners rather than flower spikes. There are varieties that send out stiff branches up to two feet long and the beans set along those spikes. Cherokee Wax is a bush bean introduced by Clemson in 1948 so it should consistant as a bush bean.

I agree, not looking very bush-like. What color were the seeds? Cherokee has black seeds.

Mine are doing the same thing! I grew them last year and they were great so I bought the SAME Burpee seeds this year and they are growing out vining runners! I've just been pinching them off and then they get more bushy. I think Burpee must've had some cross pollination happening in their seed stock this year.

I grew Maxibel fillet bush beans for the first time this year and they had a growth habit unlike any other bush bean I have grown. I think they may be more of a half runner type bean and the plants are all intertwined...impossible to tell where one plant ends and another begins. Makes them a PITA to harvest.
