Some of the karndean floors have grey tones in so would work well as I'm sure amtico do but not so familiar with them. I've pictured industrial parquet from Hitt oak London whom are on houzz. I think they may do some engineered parquet which may also be worth a look. I like the upstand

Thanks Minnie 101. I thought wood, even the engineered variety was a no no in the kitchen because of the danger of leaks and water damage. I know grey will work and I like parquet, although worried about the cost! I was really wondering if I should go for more of a natural wood colour to warm it up a bit.

Def wood, I have the same challenge - white kitchen cupboards, but I will colour the island F&B Modern Gray and the flooring wood to bring some warmth.

You just need to be careful with spills ie mop up immediately and don't use a wet mop (although I've had solid wood floors for years and use a wet mop and they've been fine!). Leaks clearly may be an issue but I don't know how frequently they actually occur although obviously a concern. The company mentioned seems quite reasonable but you are right the cost to lay will be much higher than karndean. Sorry when i mentioned the grey tones, karndean have a few which have both the grey and blonde/honey tones to add the warmth

Thanks ianthy. I know it looks nice mostly if the floor matches the work surface and that is what the architect advised but I am concerned it will be too cold and , well , grey !!!!

Thanks Minnie 101 just can't make up my mind. Amtico about £100m2 Karndean about 70. Wood even more. I need to run it through from the hall and in an ideal world I would have wood all the way through. I will most likely end up with Karndean all the way through. I don't really like the idea of Karndean in the hall.

Someone had the same concerns yesterday! I don't personally like it if there's a real abundance of real wood around as I think it can then look fake (as with porcelain tiles) but it can look fantastic. Here's karndean in a period house which to be honest does not look any different from an oiled parquet in a photo imo. You could obviously tile the hall, something complementary in tone if you want the space to feel larger if you're not sure on the vinyl or get the vinyl down elsewhere and see what you think?

I agree. It doesn't look different in an image but it sounds different when you walk on it. Tricky. It will look nicer I think if it all flows through with the same flooring but maybe if it contrasts it will be ok.

Thanks alant1000. It looks lovely and the colour scheme is not dissimilar to mine. Can you remember the colour of the Amtico? Is it a sort of oak ? It does help to warm thugs up.
