Have I made a terrible mistake? Compost!

I have roses, and use compost , of course. I was thinking about it, and decided to look online to see if compost can be used with house plants. (Should have asked here first, I know. Just wasn't thinking). I found that people had positive results, BUT I found nothing on hoyas specifically. Well, I just added 2-3 teaspoons of gardening compost I got from Lowe's in each of my 4" pot of hoyas. Afterward, I got this awful, sickening feeling that it might burn their roots. I mixed it as well as I could with the potting soil on the top inch or so. Will anything bad happen? And if so, what can I do to minimize the damage? I'm panicking. These plants are doing so well and putting out new growth.
