First blooms

Here were my first blooms of the spring. It is hotter than Hades outside now and I have Eyes for You and Candice blooming along with Flamingo Dancer and a few others. Supposed to cool off to the low 90's late this week. We shall see.

Cleaned the bbq yesterday so we could have our first one. Since it was only 105 degrees outside (cooler than the day before), every bug known to man has made it into the house to get cool. Here it is in the dark hours of the early morning and this HUGE beetle starting climbing on my sofa next to me. Managed to miss it and now I can't find the stupid thing to get rid of it. UGH! Hate that when it happens!

Blue for You

Sequoia (Ralph Moore mini)

Pretty Jessica

Munstead Wood

Wedding Cake (she was spectacular this year)

Brother Cadfael

Candice--new rose for me. I think she is going to be incredible. She is laughing at our heat.

Eyes for You. Another rose that I think is going to be incredible. Very small baby and is pumping out blooms.

Sister Elizabeth

Vick's Caprice

Ann, I have only had Vick for two years. The first year I had him, he only had three blooms all year. This year, he has a lot more blooms. It only started getting over 105 degrees, so I have yet to see what an extended heatwave does to him. Reports are that he does well in zone 9 and 10. He does have beautiful, fragrant blooms.

Kentucky, Blue for You appears to be a great rose. He has only been in my garden less than six months, but appears to have blooms continuously. He is a charmer.

Oooh They're all beautiful! I think WEDDING CAKE would be my favorite of the bunch

They look great! Especially the yellow Sequoia. Ugh. I wilt over 80 F.

Sequoia is a great heat and disease resistant rose for me. It loves to pump out the blooms.

Thank you all for the nice compliments. They are very much appreciated.

Lots and lots of pretties! I absolutely love my Blue for you. Ive never heard of Emily before. Looks really delicate! Wedding Cake is something different isn't it. Looks pretty but strange all in one squishy bloom. Thanks for sharing, Judy

Judy, it is a very different rose. The petals are thick on it. They feel almost waxy. I have not seen another rose with the same "feel" as those petals.

I think it is one of those roses that you either love or hate. I love it because it is so different and can really take the heat. Also, it stays under 3 feet in my yard when others such as the Austins get to be quadruple the size they state in their catalog.

Emily is one of the first Austins and she is delicate. Really doesn't like the heat where I live at all. She is a sentimental rose for me as my great grandmother's name was Emilia. So, she is my "grandmother rose." She is also under 2 feet for me which is tiny for an Austin.

I agree. Blue for You is one great rose. I am hoping to breed it with others and see what I come up with.
