While it's preferred to work with dormant bulbs, if yours grow year round, then anytime is OK. Try to get as many roots as you can, and I wouldn't work in the extreme heat of the day. Just pamper them in their new location. They'll likely do great.

Thank you! They have bloomed but have been in their spot years, so they are choked with leaves, overcrowded, and then some animal slept in them and some are mashed. Do I need to shorten the leaves or leave as is?

If there are broken leaves, you can tidy them up. I believe its easier to manage a cut than a tear. I wouldn't hesitate to tidy, but you may want to dust with captan or cinnamon. Also, I wouldn't cut leaves all the way down unless it was absolutely necessary. Those roots will go deep. I have to tidy up a flower bed and I did it about 3 years ago...massive bulbs and roots!

OK, I did it. Saved a few bulbs, sadly tossed many. They are so heavy in the trash. Put some out in a free box for neighbors. Managed to break off a sprinkler head in the process! Thanks again.
