I would let them grow and not thin out. They need more time to strengthen and will look better when they have grown out further. Good looking starts!

LEAVE THEM ALONE for now, until they get a LOT bigger (like, for at least a year). The poor things are trying to grow leaves for food, and recover from being planted, etc. They are still tiny babies, and you do not need to do anything to them except give them enough water, and sun. I would NOT feed them or spray them with anything right now either. In a month or two you can feed them accd to the directions on ROSE food.

Thank you, Sheila and Jackie! I will follow your advice and leave them alone. They're planted on Miracle gro potting soil so they should be fine. Being a newbie, I didn't know anything about soil requirement of roses so I just chose the soil that is recommended for pots - hence, this soil product. All of my roses seem to like it :)

I wonder how Rene would have handled it (pruning) - at planting time. Or now, 3 weeks later.

Does pot (vs. ground) make a difference in this matter?
