Problem solved... cabinet builder is coming in the morning to remove and have them repainted. No argument at all... a delay kitchen or kitchen and laundry room but so worth it.

Repose Gray by SW was the solution to our cabinet/quartzite conundrum. Enough gray, taupe, to soften the colors and make them compliment one another. It looks like the walls don't even have paint on them it's so neutral. I hope you've found a solution!! Please excuse the construction site mess. We are still in progress....

Tinker, I think BeverlyFL was asking about your pantry door style, not your cabinet door style. Is that door staying? Why did you choose an arched top panel rather than matching the pantry door to your cabinet doors?

Oh... it's not a custom home, we had no choices. We actually closed on the house and ripped the kitchen out the very next day (and floors and masterbath cabinets) The builder gave very few options. I would like to eventually change all the interior doors.... someday!

Tinker_2006 the cabinets are in "designer white" but with all the sawdust they look more cream in the pictures. The color wasn't as crisp white as the sample either but we are too tired to fight that battle with cabinet guys because our builder is a nightmare and has exhausted us.

The countertops are Super White Quartzite.

I have Madre Perola counters and BM Dove White cabinets. I was lucky enough to be able to have colour guru Maria Killam come for a colour consult. She picked BM Baby Fawn, which is perfect. You might want to check it out as an option for your kitchen. Would also agree with others that a pantry door that matches the cabinets would look wonderful.

Here's Baby Fawn with your quartzite. I think my quartzite has a little more beige in it than your slabs, but it might be worth trying out.

Yes, the cabinet company is awesome. They came and pulled all the white cabinets out and are having them repainted. For those who commented about trying a different color on the wall... even though I LIKE my current color, I did infact give it a go.. (pictures are posted) and it helped some, but still... not really loving it and really didn't want the rest of the trim and doors to be whiter. I repainted the pantry too - and as I painted it - it felt dingy to me...

Lisa0527, picking a stone is difficult from the yard. It appeared much lighter there than in my house. My takes on a real green tone, does yours?

breeamcl, I did indeed look at the super white - beautiful stone! There was also another... can't remember the name that was beautiful, and I went back and forth between the 2... and finally decided on the Madre Perola.

Yes, my Madre Perola has a definite green tone tone. Green, beige/golden and grey. I think you picked a winner. I've had it for 6 years and not a single stain, etch or chip. Truly gorgeous and bullet proof. Still my favourite part of the kitchen. You can see a bit of it in this photo.

So happy to hear designer white is a warm white! I'm having my cabinets made by an Amish cabinetmaker and was worried that it would be cold... But the other whites on his chart looked yellowish..

They really do look yellower than designer white. Glad they are willing to redo. Proves there are still some great companies out there. People think whites are easy but not so much. Its probably the least forgiving color since it basically contrasts with everything.

They really are much more yellow than the sample I have from the company. I've been through the whole "white color" thing before.... I like sw alabaster & pure white... which to me are a warm white that reads white. The decor white color matched sw pure white, but they were painted more like dover white... which is fine, but not at all what I wanted. So happy that they are being repainted!

My walls are pale warm gray but are a touch darker than what you have. If that white door is a pantry door, go out on a limb and create some wow factor in your kitchen by painting the door BLACK!! I used Stiletto Black satin by Kelly Moore and I get so many compliments on my black doors. If you are considering painting all interior doors black as we did, get them professionally done. Ours cost under $1,000 for 13 doors and it included removing all hardware, two coats of paint, and reinstallation. They sprayed them and they look beautiful and smooth. Well worth it.

I also wanted to say your countertops are beautiful. If you darken the walls just a little, leave your soft white trim, and paint that one door only black, you will be surprised how beautiful your kitchen will look. The door is just too white and I am like you in that if the colors clash, I am not happy. You either need to paint the door black or another accent color, or paint the cabinets the soft white you used for doors and trim.

Part of my countertop broke as they loaded it, so it won't be until next week before it's finished, however, my kitchen cabinet place came through.... And my soft white cabinets are installed and look perfect to me! I'm thrilled!

I guess there is a story behind the yellow toned paint... They changed paint manufacturers! Anyways... Totally happy!

Paint mix mistakes happen. Unfortunate it wasn't handled before all cabs were painted. It looks very fresh now. I could see your walls a hint darker, though. :)

Yes, crown molding will be going in and "short" corbels are being installed. I actually may paint the area darker - but waiting to see the quartzite installed and after deciding on backsplash ...

I'm wondering if you had a kitchen designer helping you choose a color?

I didn't read everyone's comments but aside from grayer walls, change your bulbs to a whiter bulb. ask in a lighting store. The color of the lights make a big difference and costs next to nothing. It won't be as white as you like but will help a lot.

so I really wish I had seen this thread earlier! My cabinets also look creamy and I thought decorators white was supposed to have more of a grey undertone..when they were installed they looked pretty bright but it was summertime.. now its winter and they seem super creamy and I don't know if its the lighting or the tiles...does anyone have any suggestions??? the tile is lighter then the cabinet but i don't want to rip it out...what are my other options??

I am in the same boat, our white kitchen cabinets looks yellow and we have a gray/white quartz countertop and I'd like to paint my walls SW Agreeable Grey. Choosing a wall paint color is proving to be difficult with a warm cabinet color and a cooler countertop. We just bought out home. Thanks!

@leclairfitfam I just painted my home Repose Gray, in varying percentages throughout my home depending on where they faced and how much light. Some rooms it looks true gray and others more warm taupe. Agreeable gray was my second choice. If I recall correctly it went a little too cool in some rooms and clashed with my very warm floors and marble looking quartz countertops. I would try repose gray in your testing too :)

leclairfitfam, they color matched it to a sample board I painted (the same as my trim) the color we used was Porter's Paint, color Gypsum. It's perfect! It's not at all a stark white, and works perfect with my gray backsplash and my repose gray island.

Same thing exactly happened to me. I ordered white, with a designer - in their showroom they looked whiter, but my house is open and all new white french doors and windows. I about died when I saw my "yellow" or someone said "almond" kitchen cabinets. I hated them. And, looking at your pics, why do the cabinets look more yellow on the top? Mind did too. Anyway, this was a huge remodel and the cabinet company is agreeing to have them repainted. I want bright white! I will post when they are finished, but this is what they look like now, and no amount of different paint color on my walls will make them look crisp white like I want! So glad you got what you wanted. SOOOO beautiful!!

It's my understanding the person WANTS WHITE CABINETS....and is not asking for what wall color is best for cabinets that are not white. They will paint the walls ten times and never be happy, because they want WHITE CABINETS, not a wall color that matches off white cabinets......IMO

Sue Ellis, I think in your case, it is the lighting. Look at the door frame next to the cabinets in the third photo. The bottom part looks whiter. Obviously the door frame is all the same color.

Glad the cabinet color debacle was resolved. I do like the new grey on the walls better than the first grey.

Umm, this thread is over a year old. I am pretty sure that everyone has gotten their issue resolved or has started a new thread. I made the same mistake too. Excited about the context but forgot to look at the date.

I am late to the thread but so happy you got problem resolved. May I ask where you find your quartzite as I am in Florida and have not been able to find any like yours.
