Chinese Pink Garlic with scapes?

I planted Chinese Pink Garlic last fall. We had an extremely warm fall and winter, so the garlic grew to about a foot tall, then much of it was burned off and killed by February's low temperatures.

Much to my surprise, the surviving garlic has developed scapes. I thought that Chinese Pink was a softneck. Has anyone else grown Chinese Pink with scapes?

My seed was purchased from Territorial Seed. If scapes are normal with this variety, does that mean that I can let a couple of them develop and plant this fall, just like a hardneck?
