Are you asking about the maximum height for the cabinets with ceiling molding, or the maximum height of the molding?

Hi Elle, I was asking about the maximum height of the cabinets. I have decided to go with 42" and large crown molding.

Hi Linda, I would just make sure the crown molding is not too large or detailed in relation to the style of the cabinets or the molding will look too heavy and the cabinets will look too light.

I would reduce the ceiling height. 12' is completely disproportionate and dysfunctional in a kitchen. It's a waste of money and space.

I think the fact you have high ceilings is great. I have high ceilings and love them.

i think 42" was a good decision, you can't go all the way up, i think it looks crazy when people go too high.

What did you finally decide to do? We are currently building and have 13' ceilings in the living, dining and kitchen. Did you place any special lighting above the cabinets? Any photos?

Abracadebra-how did your 13’ ceiling height turn out? What did you end up doing with your cabinets? My current design has 12 foot ceilings in my kitchen but I’m thinking of lowering it down to 10 feet. As I don’t want to spend money on cabins will never reach or use. Thoughts?
