I don't think we're seeing enough of the room. What about the wall opposite the FP? Can the TV be moved? Are you in love with the art or can that be changed? For starters you could "L" the two sofas on the left side of the room and turn the rug, slipping it under the front 1/3 of the sofas. The armchair and footstool could angle in the corner right of the FP and the piano could take its spot.

It's hard because opposite of the fireplace there is no wall just the spiral staircase

i presume you want and need all the seats? I do not see away to improve what is there. you can move it around but it will come out the same. I will work on soft furnishings instead. I am noted for being a cheap date. I try super hard to keep prices reasonable.

Your art - is that why the pink at skylights? Is it -- An elegant delicate pattern in rug seems good with a white piano.... lots of neutral.

Are you saying the rug should be changed as well? I'd like to try keeping it and adding accessories

Possibly a new rug - if you're moving furniture, that might change the look of the rug being small [as currently set up].

Do your shutters fold or slide? Have you ever floated the piano out in front of the spiral staircase?

Shutters slide and not sure what you mean about where to position the piano

the rug choice is up to you, but it does make for a major change on a small budget. pillows are all from joss and main.

Talking about pulling the piano to the center of the space right by the stairs. Usually done with stairs a little grander than yours, but it may work and would only occupy that open floor space you're not making use of. Would also free the space where the piano is now for additional furniture arrangement. I don't know where to find that table/bench but another option might be to put the piano in the dining area and move dining by the stairs. Can't really see the DR well enough to determine if that is feasible. Looks like you might have a built-in china cabinet there.

Accessories are needed since I can't get rid of the furniture and have to use what I have and if curtains are needed to soften the shutters please advise. I will have help next week so I want to refer what I need and post to sell what I have

Panels flanking each window might work. Hang them at the level of the bottom of the beams throughout. Have you ever thought about hanging some of the art that is above the windows vertically on either side of the fireplace? What are you considering selling? Let us see to help you decide if it should go or be made use of.

I had art there before then my husband wanted to put it above the Windows because that's his favorite room and it's difficult to change it but he won't mind re arranging

I used to have the 2 sofas L shaped and we had our Christmas party and just haven't been able to move it back yet. I want suggestions before o get the help because the piano, sofas and items are heavy.

Your piano is so elegant - how can or do you want to make the dining area a bit more comfortable looking? "Let's sit down and listen....." maybe 2 end/hostess chairs in upholstery?

my thought too everz, that rug is not aggressive, it allows for a new rug in lr, giving a new look there and has just enough formality to make the piano look great?!

Have you measured to see if the china cabs could flank the fireplace? I would light them if not already lighted, and it looks like they could use some styling if you want to post fifth thread on that dilemma. One option would be to move them opposite the windows and hang art where they are now. DR windows are very suitable for drapery panels, but shutters in LR will have to slide behind them when opened, and that will look awkward. Perhaps a fabric cornice to match DR drapes could run the entire length of the windows and not interfere with shutter movement (except for the last one that slides toward the DR. However, that could increase the visual length of the space and you might not want to do that. I get the impression the shutters on the other wall are bi-fold. I think you should consider moving the TV to sit in front of the larger shutters behind the sofa once you move it to make an "L"

Wish all the LR/DR photos were together on one thread. I took the "tour" and saw all the great art you have. Consider moving the wedding portrait to the master bedroom and putting a large mantel like your beams at the FP to deflect heat from the family portrait. Please post the room measurements here in case I can't find them in one of the other threads. The above was just for concept, but not accurate size, I'm sure.

I will measure the cabinets and see if they fit along the sides of the fireplace and post help to organizing them. They do light up.

Dining room drapes and or curtain ideas are suggested as I want to get to that too. That's why I have all your eyes helping me but if you see something, link it!

Also, the art won't all got along the wall where the curios are now and I have to get my husband to part with moving it. He says that area is His zen room and he gets difficult so I might have to work slow and or keep it how it is

The only way also is him seeing the layout and end result. If I overwhelm him he doesn't help any

Hard to see the piano under the stairs

Think I should move it to the corner of the fireplace but if I decide to move the curios that will be out

But how will you open up the top of the piano if it's blocked by the stairway? Anyway, shouldn't the piano be turned in the opposite direction so that the sounds coming from the open cabinet are directed into the room? I know that some people on this thread have suggested turning the piano so that the keys (and the player's back) are facing the room, but that just seems wrong. Anyway, it seems to me that a piano that big and beautiful needs to be the most important item in the room, and all of the other furniture should be worked around it.

You have a lovely space already, personally i would add some pastel colours to add some colour into the living area. As your art has quite a bit of pink in it have you thought about pastel pink cushions? Plain ones and then some with a pattern...

I would definitely put the curio cabinets in each side of the fireplace as decoenthusiast suggested. With the lower ceiling height and beams in dining room, they make it look even lower. Then do the L shape with sofas and place chair where tv is now.
Place tv on walk across from sofa with piano caddy cornered facing sofa in the same wall as tv at the opposite end. So it would kinda be facing the chair in the corner beside fireplace. When you come in double doors you would be looking at the piano players back sorta. I would add some orange and lime green like the dining room and soft yellow for color with pillows only and maybe a floral arrangement with all the colors in it on coffee table.

Or how would it look to place piano directly against the back of the sofa after moving it in L shape? So it's facing the double doors with straight side against the sofa back? It would look nice when open like that too probably

Yes, the piano should open like a jewel box into the room so the sound can fill it. The sofa "L" is on the opposite side of the room, but I assume you're considering the TV location. I think with walls of windows, you're lucky to have the shutters because that is better for behind the TV than having it right against an open window. Are the sliding doors by the stairs used on a regular basis or is there a more convenient route to that adjoining space? I'm hoping the cabs will fit because that will give us an entirely new look, but that door location might be a good spot for them if they'd cover it and there is an alternative route into that space and a sensible way to cover that side of the sliders.

Too much stuff in your living room. The white piano and brown furniture does not go together. My suggestion is a Fireplace makeover & the purchase of clean line furniture with color.

I love the L shape layout with the sofas and the chair on one side. You could put the floor lamp on the side of the chair. Could you try putting the piano behind the sofa in the middle facing the doors ? I know it's a heavy piece but It may look great like that.

Or maybe see if you can get by without the chair/ ottoman set... so piano has room to breathe.......
