Afraid to ask.. What is a catch cup?

to find out how much i'm watering.

Ahaa! I got mine at ace hardware, you're bound to have one of those around

I just went to the store & got 4 packs of these bowls.

I use these. First they have to be empty. Then put them in the yard and turn on the sprinkler. When they get full I know I have an inch of water.

Tuna cans also work well for amounts of up to about an inch. Since I eat a fair amount of tuna, that's handy for me!

Straight sides and a flat bottom are a must unless you calibrate what you are using. The glad bowls you referenced will not be accurate as they have tapered sides.
