Painted Wing Back Chair

I was given this old wing back chair at a yard sale for free before I realized how much it actually costs to re-upholster a chair. Instead of throwing it in the trash and with a little research, I painted the chair and re-upholstered the seat cushion myself (1st time). I am very pleased with the results. I was really simple to do. Check out more info at: therookierenovator.blogspot.com

Nice job! I like DIY projects but have never tried upholstering an entire chair... Only chair seats ! I will check out the blog.

My apologies. I did close my blog down because I had to halt alot of projects on my home. Here is the link to the designer that I learned the process from. It was very easy. Let me know if I can help you more!

Kim, I love how this looks – the combination is brilliant.

Can you tell us how the paint's holding up? I'm also curious as to how it feels to the touch – does it feel kind of vinyl-is?

Thank you Carolyn! Although I no longer have the chair (I actually sold it for way more than I put into it ), it held up for a good two and a half years. No need for touch ups. I think the key is really getting that paint in the fabric and layered good. As far as the feel of it. It is almost leather like. Feels thick to the touch and not like plastic. I hope to redo a chair I recently purchased at a yard sale for $10 the same way but in black. I hope that helped!

Does the paint wear off when you sit on it? Will it harm clothing

I have 2 chairs I'm thinking about painpainting but I am concerned it will stain

As long as you use the correct paint (Acrylic) and dry thoroughly it will not and has not. I have seen some transformations with chalk paint however, I have never used it therefore I cannot vouch for that method.
