I bought a phoenix roebelinii may be three weeks ago and yesterday I observed discrete white dots on a few fronds. They are very isolated from one another and are very well attached to the plant. I have to scratch to take them off. They are white with a brownish spot. I inspected more thoroughly and they are, as I said, fairly dispersed from one another but also quite omnipresent on the plant. I also found rarer groups of smaller specimens. They are certainly not mealy bugs, most likely a type of armored scale, may be Selenaspidus albus from the research I made at this point. Perhaps it is something else. I started to panick thinking it was everywhere because of the way the fronds look... they have white scurfs under them but I read somewhere it was normal for young leaves on pygmy date palm... May be someone can confirm this since the budding fronds are all grey which does not encourage me at all..

I am new to palm trees and rather circumspect about my aptitudes to care for them...
