2) The form is a little congested and unclear and it looks a bit beat up - maybe mechanical damage, maybe some water stress.......

3) But aside from that, the tree looks healthy enough.

Thank you so much! I am wondering if I should take this back and maybe replace it with a knockout rose tree instead? I currently have hydrangeas and azaleas in the flower bed.

Just leave it be. It is fine, just be sure to water it deeply at least once a week during the summer.
