Shocked well, way too much bleach.

We have a well that we don't know how deep it is, my guess is at least 300ft. I called a well company about shocking our well because it was running muddy constantly, even with our whole home filtration. They told us, 1 gallon of bleach mixed in 5 gallons of water, then dump it in the well. Then cycle the water with a hose, turn it off for 24 hours, then run it til the smell is gone. WELL, my husband spoke to the plumber at his work who says they always use about 15 gallons....which I thought sounded extreme. So he bought 10 gallons! It has been almost a week and I did a OTO test, which is coming up orange, which I read means about 18-30 ppm, and it needs to be at a 4 or lower. SO, my question is, did he poison the well? Or will it eventually run out of bleach? The smell is SO STRONG its almost sickening.
