Long story short - we just got new granite counter-tops for the kitchen and two bathrooms (chose from two remnant slabs for the baths).

Unfortunately we didn't see the below chip until a few hours after the installer left (we trusted the company / installer and didn't look very closely). Is this something they should have noticed and told us during install?

We were wondering if the below repair is common / acceptable for new granite? I understand that we're getting a natural product and stone isn't perfect but it seems like a huuge eye sore. It's ~2" x 1" on the edge of the sink. I just want to do a sanity check and make sure it's not us being too picky since it's our first time dealing with something like this. Really hoping someone can help or provide their opinion.
