Have never grown Striped Cavern. Hollow tomatoes just don't appeal to me. But as with all other varieties, comparing them to each other usually isn't valid. They all have different genetics, different DTM, different growth patterns, different responses to any stress or difference in growing conditions, etc. Simply too many variables involved to write one off simply because it isn't performing at the same rate as another variety.

Good point, thanks. I am going to use it for a stuffing tomato kind of like using a bell or pabalano pepper for stuffing, I hope it works out well.

Is it a trait of purple calabash to not set fruit very well? It's had a flower set, now a second set and soon to be a third set and no tomatoes?

I will work on my patience with tomatoes.
