A mirror facing windows is a very good placement. Is there a wall available for your sofa?

A photo of the wall opposite the sofa would be helpful.

all 4 sides would help. a sectional would not.

I think your home is lovely! I would keep the couches. Maybe add another small mirror or art in between the 2 windows. Also, a tray would look nice on the ottoman. You could add a small plant, books, candles etc.

Your home is lovely. And I agree with Fouradamos that a tray - perhaps a silver tray - might be a nice addition to your ottoman.

I am familiar with Feng Shui; from that perspective, another furniture arrangement could make your space flow better - and, I think, might be more comfortable for you. I would like to help with this - but would need additional pics and/or information.

But here are a couple of ideas for décor... some very simple things that you can do. I don't know whether you would opt for bringing in blues/greens or warm tones like reds/oranges, etc. - if you were going to bring in more color. So I mainly just went with a blue type of palette.

I brought in curtains in sort of a blue/sea foam colored linen - and some throw pillows in a yellow/gold/blue damask. I brought in a different style in ottoman - just to show how another style could work; the ottoman I've used has a very textured white slipcover on it. If you would like, you could bring in different color, texture, etc. by slipcovering yours, as well. Your ottoman is fine and goes with your set - but these are just some ideas/ways to bring in new décor... just a couple of very simple ideas that can change the look and feel of a space.

I agree that we need to know what is on the wall opposite your sofa. If it is another wall that a cabinet or your TV is on then I would definitely get a sectional with the L opening up toward the door and put your TV on the mirror wall and then add a chair on an angle or a pair of chairs in front of the stairwell so that it opens up the entrance to your home. Right now the entrance seems very closed off with the sofa where it is. You have a lot of windows so I'm not sure why it seems dark in there. Do you often open your blinds? I would recommend getting rid of the blinds and installing Roman shades in your windows instead because they tend to be left open more than blinds and are much more aesthetically pleasing - that has just been my experience with clients. Add end tables and lamps or a floor lamp for additional lighting. If we could see all four walls of the room I could give a much better recommendation for furniture placement...it's my specialty :) Good luck!

Here are some additional photos. Trying to let you see different angles. 2 are standing from the front door way looking into the living room. If you walk behind the couch and turn left there is a 1/2 bath and the entrance to the master. On the wall opposite the love seat is the mirror, and opening to the kitchen.

And this is in between the Windows. . I do think the room is dark possibly because of the large covered front porch we have. The TV is above fire place which I know isn't a good option for some, but I'm not sure where else it could go or how else the furniture could be arranged to put it elsewhere..

Thank you so far for your decorating tips. I feel if I can get some decorations in here, possibly different curtains, and spruce it up some I will fall in love with the space.

I understand your layout and furniture placement better now. It seems to me that you've arranged the furniture in a way that works for the way you are using the space. And it seems that the placement keeps your pathways within the room and between rooms pretty free and clear. If you were uncomfortable with the placement, I would try to offer a plan to address that. But I feel like you are ok with the arrangement - and that it works well for you.

New curtains can always bring nice new energy to a space. I think a color like I show in my visual would be beautiful in your room... a light blue or sort of blue/sea foam type of color, in linen. But it's really about what you prefer - what you would like to see in your space. Many colors/fabrics could work.

It's a really nice living room. I think a plant - either real, or good quality faux/silk - would be beautiful by your fireplace.

Lighting is your problem. You are relying on the fan light to illuminate the room. That light is the ambient light for your room. You turn it on to see how to get into the room in the dark. Once in, your turn on the task and accent lighting (table and floor lamps, and accent lighting for highlighting art and architectural features.) I would replace the fan with a chandelier or semi-flush drum fixture. Add a pair of credenzas or consoles flanking the FP where you can add table lamps. Arrange the sofas so they don't make a barrier from the entry. Try floating the love with its back to the dining room entry and pull the larger sofa up to make and "L" with it. That will open the living room to be welcoming from the entry.

Furniture is nice neutral color. I would try turning the sofa with back to windows and love seat facing on opposite wall. Float the sofa and loves seat away from walls. Put a tray on ottoman. The way your furniture is placed now closes off the entrance when you come in front door

I added 2 new lamps (still unsure of them though) , and a new arrangement to the fireplace. I tried the love seat in front of the kitchen opening but I felt it closed off the space even more, there was not much room to walk behind it.

The lamp I picked up is the one on the right teal in color. Sorry new to this whole app

you know what i think? I think these are your winter colors and we need to get out your summer duds. spring has sprung, lets reflect that in the room. It need not cost a lot.
