You don't have to have large trees Kyle,as long as you can snip something off at least 16th dia though thicker would be better....and in winter,you can graft the tiniest thin scions.

Thanks for the info, Houzi. I only have 5 small trees, all purchased within the last year, and I can hardly stand the thought of snipping something off of them at this point lol. I know I will need to get over that.

I have read a lot of your posts and comments on the UBC forum, Houzi, and it really gets me fired up to try some grafting.

I have messaged (nagged) Dax a lot about grafting, and he has given me some great advice. He recommended summer grafting for JM's, so I will give that a go if I am able to round up the proper rootstock and such in time. I will also give winter grafting a go, and am sure I will be rereading your posts and comments almost everyday during the process.
