Geoff , thankyou for the lily seeds. I was pleasantly surprised to find an envelope from HongKong in my mailbox. Sadly I too lost the seedlings which sprouted from the lily seeds you had sent me last year. So sweet of you to send them again this year!! I am touched. Unfortunately, though my plants did produce a lot of flowers I was unable to get even a single seed pod maybe because I live on a high floor where bees do not come to visit so I am unable to reciprocate your generosity. Will share lily seedlings pics with you once they sprout.

I wonder if we could self pollinate the way I do my tomato's early in the season. Before the bees bugs or out. I use a small paint brush and run the brush from flower to flower. The soft brush reach down the throat to get the pollen. I only have one with buds so I am going to try hand pollinating

This is how I sow them. I sent more specifics via PM. You can use any container but I prefer individual cells to communal trays. I number each 'tray' and keep track of the date each seed germinated. Just draw a 12-cell grid of squares to keep track of what germinated when. When I repot, each label will include plant #, origin, germination date, bloom name (if known). I also keep a journal to document everything from repotting to color chamges to root development to pruning.

Hi Maria. I got my seeds today. THANK YOU! They may have come yesterday, but I didn't check my PO box. Do you think it's too late for me to start them? Or should I wait until spring? It's gotten noticeably cooler here. Not really cold yet. We may have a couple more heat waves in October into November, but it will definitely cool down in another 60- 80 days or so. I want to start the seeds while they are fresh, but don't want to risk starting them too late. Waiting until March will definitely decrease the germination chances, right?

You can sow your seeds now as long as you can provide good lighting & warmth throughout the winter months. A very sunny window with no drafts will do. The key is to keep them warm. They will continue to grow with regular waterings & feedings (begin after 1st month).

Otherwise, begin your seeds in early March. Try planting a couple now to see how they do throughout the winter. They may surprise you. You can save the others until March.

That's a good idea. Try a couple, save a couple. Would you advise putting the unplanted seeds in the fridge until it is time to plant them? Sorry for all of the questions.

Yes, planting a couple will also help us all learn what works and what doesn't for overwinteting new seedlings in the various regions. New seedlings do not have the reserve to go dormant, so this topic is important to others.

I really don't believe adenium seeds need to be refrigerated. They just need to be stored in a cool-ish room (garage or attic), away from heat & dampness. Some refrigerators can be rather damp. Others will chime in with what has worked for them with respect to seed storage.

Please don't leave them in the sealed plastic sleeves. Wrap in paper towel and place in a lidded container (cardboard, wood, porcelain, glass ... It doesn't matter).
