I have a couple of old ugg shoes - not the boots, but some canvas shoes with thick rubber soles. They do a great job and are washable. Canvas keeps getting softer too!

Most of the time, I'm barefoot in the garden. When I remember, I have a pair of black flip-flops that are specifically used for the garden or the beach.

I do my gardening barefoot but if I need to use a large shovel I ware sandals

I have and love my Sloggers Carol. Those rain boots are great with snow also!

I always use crocs in the garden, I can use them with socks or not, easy to rinse them out and they dry quick, they also last for a very long time.

I know what you mean about the mesh on sneakers, Carol. One might as well garden barefoot. But, my daughter bought me a pair of slogger boots for my birthday last month, and I just love them. Mine are the same pattern as yours. I keep them right by the slider, so I can just slip my feet into them and off I go into the garden.

I know this is gross, but I had dirt in my toenails every time I got finished in the yard - not pretty! I would love to wear flipflops all the time, but my feet looked even worse than with old running shoes. You guys are lucky; men can get away with a bit more rugged look.

Maria - I bet they are great for snow, too. I have a cheap pair of rain boots that I wear for serious rain, but they come up to my knees and are a heat machine to wear gardening. Thought I was gonna die the one day I tried that!

Silvia, were you able to find Crocs without vent holes? I was looking for hole-less Crocs and that's how I happened to find Sloggers. But also, you probably aren't nearly as messy as me.

I have the short Bogs Boots. They are really tough and will last me a few years of daily wear doing farm and garden chores. They re-seal themselves when they get punctured etc. The downside is they are really expensive. Let me know how yours hold up. The bogs usually last till the tread wears off the soles and they become too slippery to wear but I would buy cheaper shoes if I could find some that could actually stand up to the same abuse lol. Bogs are better than sandals when I spend a lot of time in the sun, keeps the sun off the foot tattoo lol. Sun really fades them out.

I like going barefoot but I can't stand to get my feet dirty or muddy lol. I wear sandals if I'm not watering anything or going in the barn or chicken areas. The Crocs sandals last me the longest for wearing outside. If I go somewhere else I wear "nice" sandals lol.

SJN, Bogs look great! "re-seal themselves when they get punctured" - say whaaaaaat?! Wow! Now I'm even more interested! Funny that I never came across them in my search. I think I would like a pair of Bogs - - and I will let you know how my Sloggers hold up. I was thinking the same thing today... I wonder how long these will last?... as I am pretty tough on them.

Carol, the crocs that I bought many years ago look like regular flats, no holes. They are very durable and comfortable, I even take my dogs for a walk with them because they are easy to walk on the trail and go straight to the garden. I don't think that I can ever walk barefoot in the garden for many reasons, one will be taking care of the feet and pedicure like you.:), other one is that I can step on something sharp and the worst one will be that I can get a snake bite. They still look like new and they are dark brown color, they can take the wear and tear.

I wear Sloggers boots in your pattern and love them! I have a pair of cheap black ones from Walmart and have to wear socks with them, but don't with my Sloggers ... and they are sooo cute. :)

I have inside crocs and outside crocs. I have chickens and I don't want to step in "it" with my inside crocs ;-)

I like being able to slip in and out of them easily. I'm also able to put my orthotics in the crocs.

My outside work crocs don't have holes in the tops. Feet still get dirty when doing especially dirty jobs.

Really like those Sloggers, Carol. Better priced than Crocs and the soles look as if they will last. Except in the short depths of winter I tend to keep my Crocs off and on all day and have found that they wear too quickly for what I pay for them, plus when the soles wear down they are a major accident hazard if wet and used to walk on a smooth surface.

Cheap crocs. Easy to hose down after I'm done. And I keep them outside so I won't drag any mote sand in the house than I have too.

That mote sand is horrible stuff, I hear. ;)

Want to follow-up on my Sloggers now that two years have passed. THESE ARE PROBABLY THE BEST GARDENING "TOOL" I HAVE EVER DISCOVERED! I am still wearing the same pair and they have held up unbelievably well! In the past, I've had athletic shoes where the soles eventually separated from the uppers... the glue would just get old and give out over time... and I'd be walking around in Bozo-the-Clown shoes. Well, I have had none of that with these amazing Sloggers. I slip them on any time I am doing any kind of yard work - from mowing the lawn to watering the garden - they are comfortable, stay on and have held up and look almost like the day I bought them. Oh and yeah, my toenails still are passable, too.

I saw them the other day for the first time locally at the Hagan Ace Hardware in Mandarin/Julington Creek in Jacksonville. I think they were $29.99 a pair (?), but I don't remember for certain.

Carol, those are cute. I am still wearing the ballet flats crocs, I found them for cheaper price at BJ's. When they wear out and become slippery, it is time to get a new ones. Your Sloggers look more durable.

my feet used to look terrible when I wore old tennies to garden. A few years ago I switched to a pair of Ariat work boots. I've been clearing out an overgrown wooded area and I need the ankle support of a short boot. These too are pretty expensive, but I've been wearing one pair for a couple of years now and they handle a lot of abuse.

I've worn Muddruckers for years, always have 2 pair. Very comfy, like slippers and great treaded sole. More expensive but last forever. More durable than garden

slogs and are foam lined for comfort. I've had people in garden depts. ask me about

my shoes when I'm shopping. You may have to go to equine website to find them.

My feet are usually naked outside but i do have a pair of croc knockoff sandals that i wear when needed and when i mow or weed wack i wear a old pair of dankins walkers sans the socks.

I would love walking outside barefoot except for the Florida soil staining black my feet and under my nails, AND except for the threat of hookworms.

Lived in florida my entire life worst thing that happened to my foot outside is a ground bee stungs me once, found a few ant nests, and got a few sand spurs thru the years. Thats a fairly peaceful foot for a lifetime of barefooting. Frankly i'd rather get a single ant bite on my foot that have the whole colony climb my shoe and sock before i noticed them as they as if one bit my leg. Now my yard is sand spur free, i have no fire ants nests thanks to my constant grits application, and i am more aware of little holes in the ground that can host bees.

I normally wear a half size, so as suggested on their website, I ordered a size up and use the half-sizer insoles that come with the shoes

I normally wear a B/Medium width (and no tendency toward narrow whatsoever). These fit perfectly for me. For wider widths, they suggest ordering a size up. If you're normally an 8C, order a 9 and use the half-sizer insoles that come with the shoes. If you're normally an 8.5C, order a 9 and you won't need the half-sizer insoles.

Silvia, I looked up ballet-flats Crocs - those are cute, too! Really girly and feminine for a gardening shoe! I think of you gardening in a June Cleaver full-skirt dress, pearls and these shoes... or maybe white pants and a summer blouse... looking fresh-as-a-daisy! And wonderful that you can get a better deal at BJs. I love a good deal.

My dear sweet daughter-in-law sent me a pair of the Slogger garden shoes and Slogger garden boots for Mother's Day and I love them. They fit perfectly and I can work in my flowers all day with comfortable, dry feet.

No they are different. Bogs are very heavy. If you are an average gardener and not on a farm you can get by with Sloggers. They are cute and cheaper than the bogs. Many of the bogs boots are rated to -40F so they can get really hot in the summer too.

Thanks Sultry. That is great info! Now, I *am* on a farm a lot but the Sloggers sound perfect because I need them for summertime. For winter I wear heavy duty Muck Boot Co. boots. in any case I just ordered 2 pairs (one clog style and one ankle boot style), I have narrow feet so hopefully one or both fit!

Glad to see this post come around again; just the other day, I thought to myself, I need to post an update.

I am still wearing the SAME two pair of Sloggers that I purchased in June and July of 2016! I cannot speak highly enough of these gardening shoes. They are quality, quality, quality. I not only wear them in the garden, I wear them to run errands any time the forecast is for heavy rain. (Why ruin a good pair of shoes?) I have worn these to death and every part of these shoes is perfectly intact. I will say, I do have two identical pair, and I do spread the wear out evenly between the two pairs... but I am still most impressed with the useful life. I wear one pair or the other for some part of almost every single day. If and when they ever do give way, I will replace them with another pair of Sloggers.

Carol, I went through multiple pairs of athletic shoes in just one year of gardening here in FL. The soles kept coming off. One minute it would be fine and the next I would be wondering where the bottom half of my shoe had gone!

I figured there had to be something better. Then I saw your post last year and so I bought a pair of sloggers. I absolutely love them, they are still going strong. I ended up buying 2 more pairs because I love the different colors and prints :-)

I don't know how I missed this thread all these years. Many years ago, I found a pair of blue rubber clogs with thick bottoms. I put those on with socks if I'm going to be digging, or a pair of old sneakers, but most times, I'm just out there in my flip flops. I have always had a habit of washing my feet before I get into bed, so I just changed that to washing them before I put my feet up on the furniture.

I'm going to look into sloggers, although they are so pretty, I might not want to wear them in the garden at all. I've always wanted some Wellies, which goes along with my obsession with British gardens and garden shows.

Careful with real clog clogs. I used to wear Danskos - did for 2 decades - until one day my ankle turned over and I had the worst sprained ankle my doctor had ever seen. Apparently it’s not uncommon with those. Sloggers for the win! lol

I noticed one of the Sloggers clogs has baby goats all over them so I might have to get a pair, haha!! ♡♡
