Four door refrigerator

We are going to replace our 3 french door fridge which sounds like it is coming to an end and are thinking getting the four door one, not sure yet of make but just curious anyone here have this design? Do you find it more convenient with the extra door. My sister thinks I am crazy as she finds the french door design less convenient that a single door!

I like it a lot ... I'm on my second one. What I REALLY like is that the middle drawer on mine is a deli drawer. It holds all of cheese and containers of yoghurt that don't stack well.

Good to know poky, that's exactly what DH and were thinking of putting in the middle drawer.

I don't have one, but I sure do like the idea. Now, just waiting for mine to wear out. ;-)

You probably dont have to wait too long cyn, newer appliances dont seem to hold up as long as older ones did. The one we have came with the house which is only five years old!

I like it. I can see that it would be really useful.

Haha, RoseAbbey. Ours is pretty old then, I guess. Of course, when you want them to kick the bucket, they just keep going. No complaints, though.

I have a 3 door but sure would have liked having the drawer seperate.

It can be a pain using the full width drawer in mine because I have to open both sides of the French doors to open the drawer. I keep deli in one side, canned beverages in the other side of the full width drawer.

Rose, we had a four door French door fridge in our other house. We found it far more convenient and useful than our current sub zero (which I like for other reasons).

I am liking it even better with all these positive posts.

I have a deli drawer with a separate temperature control, which I keep at 34 degrees. I can keep fresh meat for four or five days without worrying about it, so I seldom freeze meat anymore. I also keep all deli items and packaged cheese in mine. It holds a lot, and the separate drawer in that one looks even deeper. You want to make sure you have enough room in the fridge section. Produce can be a tight squeeze in my fridge.

great idea about keeping the meat there, thanks mayflowers.

Like Mayflowers I have a separate deli drawer with temp control in my french door refrigerator. I like it. I'd also just be really sure the refrigerator section is large enough. I don't think I'd care for the four door. The way my kitchen is I actually prefer the look of a two door (bottom freezer). I somehow think it looks visually cleaner than the french doors I have, but I couldn't get a CD in the size I needed.

I love my 4 door. I use the drawer for meat, cheese and candy bars. In Texas candy bars are better cold.

I have a subzero that has two drawers and one door, all fridge. Love it.

We had the one you show at our lake house. I did not like the French doors. You had to close them in a certain order Iirc and it was a nuisance, oddly enough, vs one door.

You don't need to close the doors in order on mine.

I just tried my too, I dont either. What brand did you buy mtnrdredux?

We have this type of fridge by Samsung. We have ice in the door and have had no end of issues with the ice maker. I love the middle drawer, but the upper doors are annoying when putting away larger items...admittedly I could put my bowl of salad greens in smaller or different containers. Other than the ice maker, that is my only complaint. Oh, we have counter depth and it does not hold a lot. Fine for us now that my 23yo son has moved into his own place and we no longer have to store his mass quantities of food.

We have a Samsung four door which I love. The drawer holds all of our deli and meat, with room for a lot of beverages in cans or bottles. Or a tray or platter when needed. The French doors can be opened or closed in any order. It has a soda stream cartridge to dispense sparkling water, a feature I don't love (hindsight, wish I could've tested that before buying as I like a lot of fizz). Overall I'm delighted because I switched from a side by side and had similar concerns.

"You had to close them in a certain order Iirc and it was a nuisance, oddly enough, vs one door."

The flap thing on my French door was not closing properly when I tried to close the left side first. But before calling the service people I stretched out the little springs that attach the flap to the left door at the hinge. Works perfectly now...I walked around knowing I was a genius for a day or 2.

I have a KA and have to close the left side first. It's annoying, because the internal water dispenser is on the left, so I have to close the right side after the left, even when I didn't open the right side myself (it pops open).

that's strange pip, I have KA too with the ice/water on the left side and mine doesnt pop open, maybe its a flaw in that particular fridge. When we bought the house the fridge came with it and it has the ice maker turned on. We have tried to turn the darn thing off and for some reason cant. We never use the ice but it does still make ice, I dont know what happens to the ice. How do you turn yours off?

Ours has a metal bar that needs to be up or down for ice on/off.

The right side pops open because you have to push the left to get past the seal. We have the 30" Architect II.

Our is also the architect series but the 36" counter depth with ice/water on the exterior. We dont have a metal bar, there is a plastic push button on the ice maker but we have pushed on it leaving it open and closed and the fridge still makes ice. In our previous house we also have KA, no external water/ice and there was the metal bar which you would push up or down depending on what you wanted.

We have a 3-door Frigidaire, and don't need to close the doors in order either. I really love our fridge, but could also see the value of having that 4th door. What I love most about our fridge, though, is that the stainless finish is completely smudgeproof.

Ida (love that name) does the ss look like real ss? I have seen some that are more of a gray tone that real ss, so unless all 3 appliances were the same you could definitely tell the difference.

Works for us. Our other appliances are SS as well, and I think they all go nicely together. We opted not to get the ice/water thru the door, but otherwise ours pretty much looks like this.

The reason for the fourth door (drawer) is to access frequently used items without opening the main doors. I don't really use any one thing more than another, so that's not a selling point for me. I see it marketed for families with children who constantly open the fridge for drinks (though they shouldn't be sucking on juice boxes all day long either).

I assume that's the Samsung fridge. The ice maker and water dispenser take up too much of the fridge space imo. I have a gallon of milk and bottles of condiments and jams, so my shelves are full. My Electrolux has the deli drawer on the inside and the ice maker in the freezer. It is a nicer stainless. Electrolux makes Frigidaire. I think the main difference was that the Electrolux has LED lighting.

Thanks Mayflowers. I'm not specifically looking at buying the Samsung, it was just the design I was showing. The rest of my appliances are KA so I will be looking at that brand first as I like to keep the same look in the appliances. We bought a new KA gas stove a couple of months ago and also have a KA OTR mircowave, which will be the next thing to replace. Will have to do a bit of cabinetry work for that so the microwave fits better, right now it hangs about 2" lower than the cabinets, which I dont like. Seems like its never ending.

We are putting the Samsung RF28HMEDBSR in our new house. It looks exactly like the model you posted with the drawer that is separately temp controlled. A lot of why we chose it was because of that drawer...great for yogurt cups (I make my own yogurt), cheese, deli meat, produce, etc. We don't really eat deli meat but I know we will either use it for produce or yogurt & cheese. Most likely produce since we open the fridge a lot for veggies.

We did not like the models that had the "pantry" drawer inside the main fridge because you have to open both doors to get something out of there. As for the ice maker taking up a lot of room, that is true...but we were told by several appliance salesmen that the slim door ice makers (LG makes a lot of this style) had more issues with the ice maker because it has more contact with warm air every time you open the door. They also hold much less ice. We preferred the slim style but this Samsung offered the other features we wanted.

We should be moving in the end of next week so once we have our fridge delivered I'll try to come back and give my first opinion on it.

We have a literal four door (not two doors and two drawers) refrigerator from Samsung and we love it. It's similar in concept as the freezer side on the right is temperature controlled so that it can either be refrigerator temperature or freezer temperature. We prefer it to the drawer freezer types as we were always hunting for things on the bottom of the freezer drawer. It is quite big though!

I saw a Kitchen Aid 5 drawer refrigerator advertised.....the center drawer was divided into two.....i.e. two doors at the top, two drawers under that and one freezer drawer under that. We just bought a new refrigerator but prefer the side by side with ice in the door....works for us and fits the spot made for a refrigerator in our kitchen.

thanks erinsean and yes our new fridge too will have to fit the cabinet that was built for this fridge, so I might not get what I really want, we'll have to see.
