I just saw one in a hoop house at a nursery with intense light, who knows how long it's been there (the plants in there look like "discards") and it was really dark, green-black, and not too much of the rose tones evident, it was clearly marked Coppertone. I am thinking (but not sure) this species can take full sun, as I didn't see any scalding on the one in the hoop house, but if you want to bring out the pinkish color, indirect bright light is probably best. On my Coppertones the best color is on the new growth. I have them on the north side of my house, they do get morning sun for a bit then they are in bright shade the rest of the day - but I've only had them since January so I'm still observing them. Maybe someone who's had them longer can advise better.

Nancy, my preference would be morning sun and then bright shade the rest of the day. Color probably wouldn't be too much different in all-day very bright shade. You have a beautiful specimen there!

Mine gets afternoon sun and doing well with good color.

I have one that got full afternoon sun and it scared it with tiny brown spots and one old leaf is 1/2 brown. This year I have it getting morning sun and bright shade. I have another one in full afternoon sun and doing well.
