I would suggest going with white because I think it will be more lasting/less trendy, it contrasts nicely with the counter and floors, and it will keep the room light.

The white does look better with the countertop even though I normally do not suggest white cabinets because they are not my favorite.

I lve my gloss white cabinets but did a clients in gray gloss and they love it and IMO it suited their house better than white but you will noice the counter is white with the gray The white kitchen not quite finished in the photo

The white is brighter and will go with anything, it won't date (maybe the gloss will though)

But I'm still drawn to the grey one too. [sigh]

Patricia - I did initially want a white worktop to go with the grey units but don't have the budget for quartz etc. only a laminate and didn't like any white laminate worktops.

Do you have an island?

White high gloss cabs are timelessly "modern". I'm already tiring of gray...which is a fashion colour. Very much like avecado green and harvest gold it will fall to the side like all fashionable colours.

If you are someone who will/can afford a new kitchen in 7-10 years, then the trendy gray will do just fine. If you are someone who is looking for a modern look that will stand the test of time, then white is always the answer. I've seen high-gloss cabs from the 70's look AMAZINGLY modern...right up until the day they were removed and replaced 40 years later. Imagine Avecado green looking that modern 40 years after it was installed? Avecado was "dated" by the time the 80's came knocking.

Just saw this thread where the OP wanted to know if the kitchen was dated Most thought the floor was; but not the cabinets.

We agree, the white will be fabulous for years to come. It's also such an easy look to adapt over time. Here's a kitchen we did on Cape Cod. As we talked to the homeowners about their options they loved the idea that 20 years down the road even, all that they would need to do is swap out some hardware and accessories if they wanted a fresh update, at very little cost.
