Black would be a good neutral

I have a similar farm table and same chairs! I was thinking of painting mine black. Following to see what you do with this! :) Did you stain the table? I love the color!

I had the table made local and yes it's stained a dark walnut :)

I do feel like I need a little pop of bright color. I have a lot of neutrals in the room. Red would be more of a pop although I have also considered black.

Get some samples! Paint them on big cards. Or buy the big sample cards. Look at them for awhile before you decide and hold them to your rug and furniture in different lights. And a big yes to RED!!! It will look great! Look at farrow and ball colours. Maybe "blazer"?

Distressed cream would look nice. I also like your idea of red, as long as it's more of a burnt red. Although I love black, I think black would be too harsh of a color considering your surrounding color scheme.

Love the reds, but your room is already too dark. I'd suggest stripping and sanding them to make them lighter and applying a finish that won't darken them again. Or consider painting a light color. Perhaps the Intimate White or light green (Anonymous) in the rug. Also, consider some light or colorful chair pads.

The living room rung and furniture do not have a heavy country vibe I vote for black

Another way to go is a green/blue like the background of your rug. You could pair this with red accents.

I like both the teal linlac suggested and the red deco suggested above. Think about pale teal curtains instead of the neutral for your windows. Work with that pale teal to lighten things up as well as some red.

We painted our 30 year old chairs a deep rust picked from a color in the rug. It's like having new furniture for the price of a gallon of paint. I love the pop of color it brings to the dining area.
