It doesn't look like a jackmanii to me. I think it was mislabeled. I like this one - it might be Romantika which is a really deep purple-tinted red and tends to curl its petals like this. I'd find a spot where it will look nice and go looking for a jackmanii. Perhaps the two of them would look nice growing together.

Just reporting. The flowers look better now. Perhaps the first flush was affected by the watering schedule while I was away (my partner took care of the garden for two weeks). The new blooms are fatter, and less "gothic"

And I agree, they look like Romantika. I am learning to love it!
