Thanks geoffrey_b. We have the Kohler K2355 undermount.

What does he mean by the "flange is rounded"? Is he saying it's warped? If that's the case, then I could see why it isn't fitting snuggly. When I remodeled my bathroom, I had to return a a couple of Kohler sinks due to warping before I got one that fit (top set) without gaps.

Thanks for the info jellytoast. I believe he was saying that the flange was designed with a curve, from outside edge to inside edge, all the way around. I don't recall seeing that tho, so question if that is accurate.

I have the Kohler Archer in two bathrooms. I believe the installer is correct. I'll take pictures when I get home so you can see whether mine is the same as yours. My fabricator told me this when he template.

My son used that sink in his bathroom remodel and there is no gap around his. Sorry I don't have a picture of it but I could ask him to send me one.

There are many reviews for this sink on line. It gets very high ratings and of the few low ratings no one mentioned a problem with fit. You may have gotten a defective sink.

It looks like the cutout isn't quite right - the instructions are very specific regarding the cutout for the sink.

My son confirmed that there is no gap. He sent me these pics. Sorry they are not the same angle as yours.

It is not okay. 100% white silicone only.

Hi joseph corlett. Our sinks are attached with the 4 L brackets that came with the sink screwed into a plywood deck.

Thank you sjhockeyfan325 for posting your pics. My, you have a big gap around your sink as well! I don't understand how the gap on yours (and mine) can be so wide, but badgergal's photos look much more butted up to the countertop. It does look like badgergal has more reveal, which may lessen the gap in the case of this sink...

I also have the Kohler Archer sink. My installation looks very much like the OP's and SJ's.

The pics on Kohler's site show a gap as well, though it doesn't look as large as some of the pics posted here.

FWIW, my very experienced fabricator showed me why it had to be installed that way, and frankly, I like the look and it isn't hard to clean.

I agree with SJ, not hard to clean at all. My sink is mostly used for washing my hands, and occasionally my face. It stays clean.

Thanks everyone for chiming in, I appreciate it. As it turns out, after speaking with Kohler, the gap should be no more than 1/8" which can then be easily filled with the proper silicone caulking, not painters caulk! As it also turns out, the fabricator cut the sink cutouts 1/4" smaller than the Kohler template on both width and length, which emphasizes the "overhang ledge" and "gap" even more. I am going to attempt to go back to the fabricator to see if they can rectify...we will see.

Exactly what I thought, that the cutout wasn't large enough. We had some issues with two fabricators here in NJ when I asked about a positive reveal. They claimed they never heard of such a thing... Always installed sinks with an overhang.

My installer in Iowa was fine with doing it this way a few years ago. I suspect that the difference is that cutting out for a positive reveal requires a more accurate cut. It's harder, so they "can't do it".

Stick to your guns. Have then adjust the openings, or re-do. If the positive reveal was on the order, that's what you should be getting.
