DELTA ESSA vs KOHLER SIMPLICE

Both these pull-down kitchen faucets are made in the U.S. and have similar designs. I like the spray features of the Kohler Simplice. I just wonder why the Delta Essa is almost $60 more expensive. Is it built better? Both have a lifetime warranty, and the Simplice has many glowing reviews but maybe it's been around longer than the Essa.

We've had our Kohler for over a year -- no complaints at all. Yup, love the fan spray. Highly recommend front mounting the handle so: 1) the drips stay in the sink instead of all over your counter, and 2) you can turn the water on/off with either hand.

Absolutely on the handle in front. Do you have the Simplice, or another model?

My Simplice lasted for less than a year. The spray got stuck half on and it was unfixable (or at least unfixable by me--it wasn't an expensive enough faucet to hire the job out). That was about 4 years ago though. They might be better now.

I know they've changed because they didn't used to have the magnetic docking, which they have now. I would be bummed if that happened to me, but they should replace that part. Of course there is the matter of installation....

Now I think the Simplice has ONLY the sweep spray. I wouldn't be happy with that as my only spray choice. I want the berrysoft spray too, but it only comes in very tall models, like the Artifacts. Back to the Delta Essa; I'll be happier with a regular spray, which I'd use more than the sweep spray.

I just ordered the Simplice to replace my 11 yr old Moen Aberdeen that has become almost non functional.

the Simplice is one of the few left that has the handle in a seperate hole like my Aberdeen. I hope it's a good faucet.

my dd has the Artifacts just mentioned. I love that faucet. No experience with the Delta.

The Simplice gets many great reviews, plus it's got Kohler's warranty. Does your DD have the tall Artifacts or the bar/prep model? Some people get the bar/prep but I don't think it has the spout reach that I'd like (9-10")

Adding: My sink is the 30" Kohler Whitehaven. If it were a 36" sink or larger, I wouldn't be so concerned with a high faucet.

I am conflicted between the 16" Artifacts and the Brizo Artesso, which has a bit more than an inch more spout reach. They're about the same overall height and price. I'd like the "berrysoft" spray a lot.

I spent a good bit of time agonizing between the Artifacts and Sensate (same fan spray as Simplice). The Artifacts has the berry spray, but I think you give up the ability to toggle between spray and stream with the water running. The salesman at Kohler pointed out that with the Sensate, if you just turn down the water pressure you have a perfectly good berry spray, and that helped tip me to the Sensate. Love it so far.

Just finished researching the Sensate THANKS TO YOU! I don't know why it escaped my attention previously, but now I can see that in spite of its rather modern design, it is the very best option. And best of all, it's not way tall.

Ha, glad you like it Judy Bee. It turned out to be a nice size for us, and I really wanted something without a lot of nooks and crannies to clean. We initially had a problem with it dripping with the hands-free shut off, but Kohler said to turn a knob on the under-sink "box" (my technical term) all the way one way and it's been working great ever since.

Thanks for that tip, which I hope I don't have to use ;-). I've secretly wanted a touch-free faucet after seeing a neighbor's but my husband said it was a gimmick, so although I knew he was wrong, I stopped looking at them. I love the straight lines of the Sensate, and it will fit fine with my casual beach cottage theme. The Artifacts seemed a bit too "fancy" for my kitchen renovation. Now to get this project started!

I have the Essa and am very pleased with it, about a year old now.
