Thank you all very much for all the nice comments, Ann the pink Rose is a David Austin Mary Rose its never without a Bloom.

Rose-Crazy - I just planted Mary Rose as a tree standard this past February. I know what you mean about its bloom frequency!

halloblondie and JJpeace- really you guys asking Me...wow..Ok.Well ..What does a well ..I would say definitely David Austins especially Mary rose ..Geoff Hamilton as well How could I forget Eglantyne( Sp). I'm really getting into the Kordes roses as well very healthy plants the only downside is no Fragrance but very pretty and healthy. I do have a few HT's as well Moonstone does well ,Chicago peace huge showy blooms..but you know what I always seem to gravitate toward fragrance my DAs really are the best overall in regard to blooms and fragrance..hope this helps

That's great to read about other people's roses experiences closer to my zone. These are great lists. You both have a number of roses on my want list, so that's great to see. I agree with jjpeace about the fragrance part, I could not care less. I guess when you have to worry about hardiness, short season, bloom times & realistic sizes for the zone, fragrance is a non-issue. I focus more on colours that I like; than try and find ones that fit the size & hardiness marks.

@jjpeace- I planted a westerland this year, it is doing great so far. Just curious why it's just ok for you? It's in a great spot in my front yard, hoping it does well there. I find I get more stressed about the performance of the plants in my front yard than in the back! I guess I want it to look good for the neighbours!!!

Halloblondie if you don't really care for fragrance than definitely consider the Kordes roses they have been extremely healthy for me -

South Africa & munstead wood are topping my wish list right now. I love the colours of these. I seem to prefer bold or unique variations in colours. My least favorite colour is pink, especially the light ones. I like a hot pink or magenta though. @rose_crazy - where are you buying all these roses? I prefer to buy potted ones, but I'm having trouble finding a lot of the ones on my list in store. I don't really want to do bare root orders if I don't have too.

@Halloblondie -Allot of the roses I got from Palatine Roses( Niagara- on- the- lake) and same ...believe it or Not from Canadian Tire , Loblaws and Sheridan Nurseries and just recently Vandermer . The one rose I really want now is Munstead wood but I really do not want to order from David Austin directly, I would rather get it locally ..check out Canadian tire they carry Palatine roses most of them are Kordes roses and at the moment are at reduced prices at ~$11 to $12 these are good as they are grafted on Multiflora root stock ..good for our zone..good luck happy Hunting..let me know if you get Munstead wood I would like to steal it from you LOL

I believe you about some of the retail stores Canadian tire & Loblaws have had a few I was surprised by. I think the problem I'm having is finding other people growing roses in my area so I could see what does well or not. The plus side is I have now convinced a few neighbours, friends & family members that there are roses we can grow that do well with less maintenance! A lot of people think roses are too hard to grow or require sprays & powders. They are surprised that I don't spray & they love the blooms. I think next season I will do a Palatine's bare root order for any I can't find. As for the munstead, I can't believe the prices online for David Austin. I got a Benjamin Britten in the da pot from my garden gallery on sale for $22!
