I have used 3 Jennair downdraft slide-in ranges: 1 electric; 2 gas. I prefer the gas. Other than the fan not working in the convection oven, I have had no problems. Fast forward. We moved and are remodeling our home. I need to put the range top/slide-in in the island. I have been told downdraft is bad; I should use a regular with overhead exhaust. Plus, there aren't many downdrafts to choose. The overhead exhausts are so big. I want open spaces in my not so big kitchen although the proposes island is 7 -8 feet. Ideas?
