Do you find stainless steel appliances hard to keep looking nice?

I am planning my new home. My kitchen will have white cabinets, light granite, and a copper farmhouse sink. My friends are advising that I buy black appliances and say that stainless is too hard to keep looking nice. I prefer the look of stainless with my plan, but don't want to be a slave to the maintenance. Any feedback appreciated.

Stainless is not hard to maintain, but you could also consider white appliances. Either of those options will blend better into your finishes than black, which will look too harsh and choppy.

I love my stainless appliances and they wipe off easily with the spray cleaners that say on the container that they work for stainless. Most of the name brand spray cleaners have products that work well for stainless.

I don't find stainless appliances difficult to keep clean. It takes about 30 seconds per appliance. I don't wipe the fronts off daily but do wipe them down either weekly or more frequently if I see a large smudge. I appreciate 'knowing' when to clean them...anyone I've ever known with non-stainless appliances almost never wipe them down...maybe once or twice a year.

Stainless is hard to keep clean. It shows every drop and speck. But so is black. I've had both, and they are equivalent in difficulty of keeping clean.

I really like my white appliances:)

Do a little research on the copper sink. If you are worried about keeping stainless looking nice - you haven't experienced the upkeep of a copper sink.

I have a white cast iron Kohler farmhouse sink and it is a breeze to care for. They come in colors too.

I don't find them difficult to keep clean, particularly as matte finish

i dont find stainless hard to keep clean, but if i ever found a fingermark on some place other than the handle i'd be comparing it with family members to see who was dopey enough to put their hand on someplace other than the handle.

a little self-discipline and fierce looks toward others goes a long long way to keeping appliances and cabinet doors of ANY finish clean.

and yeah i'd worry about that copper sink for sure.

Stainless is impossible to keep clean if you actually use your kitchen and stay thoroughly disgusting if you have little kids!! I just bought white KA appliances because I can't stand the mess!!

I have no problem keeping my stainless clean. Just keep your hands on the handles!

Can someone come over here and guard my appliances please? I've got a whole crew with sticky fingers. You should see my light switches. lol

My black stove stays clean until one of the cats decides to walk across it and leave paw prints! I find that stainless steel and black appliances are not a big deal to keep clean. Now, if I could just keep the cats off the stove!

There is a new material that looks just like stainless, but isn't. The front of my refrigerator is made of it, and it always looks great. No fingerprints, never need to clean it. Best part, it is not magnetic, so there is none of the usual clutter on it. (The side of the fridge is magnetic, so that clutter is there, where it doesn't show, quite welcome in our open-plan house).

It don't think it's any harder to keep clean, it just shows the dirt more quickly. I prefer white. My new fridge is a smooth white metal finish not the old fashion style vinyl.

I have both black and stainless, both show everything.

My stainless refrigerator is a nightmare to clean. It seems like cleaning makes it worse. There are streaks everywhere after I clean. Ive used alcohol, vinegar, glass cleaner, formulas made to clean stainless, etc. It streaks terribly. I had better luck with all black but it will darken your kitchen. I personally liked black appliances. They have a grounding effect.

Try wiping it with WD30 maybe twice and then use Pledge blue from now on.
