Hi David K, I am half Czech and half Hungarian, but an american born citizen. I know that has nothing to do with palms, but it's a fact I figured i'd mention anyway. Anyway, I would suggest you use NON LED lights, the ones that give off heat in other words, use any type of covering with film or breathable fabric. You know if you can get clear film like for green houses. Maybe even burlap, in whatever form you can get it. I myself have found a clear/white plastic barrel I cut in half, and planted tomatoes in last year, and I covered my potted tender tree with the top cut half of it and put a panel from my greenhouse that blew down last year on top and weighed it down with rocks that may be okay for my tender tree now, when it is in the 20's f and under. David, I bet if you can get the christmas lights that are not LED lights, and cover the palm, but avoid making it too hot in winter, pretty much checking it every night, and making it's shelter high enough that it has room to breathe, you can do it. I will be trying it with my palm once one of mine gets large enough. I bought mine on Ebay, and they are really babies, they only have about 3-4 spears max per palm. Anyways, David, if you have any progress to report please do so. I will do so if mine survive once they get any size to them.
