I remember this room. You should post the before shots because wow this room has come a long way. Looks great! Congrats on the new baby and room. Did you do it all yourself or hire someone to finish it?

Only suggestions, install conduit for cable on wall and lower family photo so that the center is 60" from floor.

Very well done! The only advice I want to give you is to get a bigger lamp--one that is made for the living room. The lamp you currently have would look great in a bedroom.

Two thoughts for your entry:

1. Dump the grey entry rug. Get something more cheerful -- patterns also hide dirt well until you have time to clean the rug.

2. Consider a piece of art at the base of the stairs to say "hello! welcome!"

And I must say that the fact that you have managed to create such a warm, happy-looking space while caring for a newborn baby -- fantastic. Congratulations both on your babe and on your efforts.

When my children were small, I used a very sturdy "shoe" basket in the entry. When shoes outgrew the basket and everyone's fingers were large enough to manipulate doors without being smashed, we moved to a narrow shoe cabinet. We also put up beadboard below very sturdy kid-sized pegs for backpacks. (Jackets went on hooks in the closet.) The beadboard was to save the wall from kid damage.
