Stuff has changed!

For years I absolutely loved gardenweb. This looks different. Not so easy to read and not so personal.

I just dug my fourth pond. It's pretty big and I wanted to discuss it.

Where did everyone go?

    I have the same question....

I'm old school, so I'm still here. I suppose there are sites elsewhere like facebook. I don't think that our new format is really that different and it is actually easier to post and edit. However, Houzz did a very poor job during initial integration and I suspect we lost a major percentage then. However, participation was already in decline.

We'd love to hear about your pond. I do not have one but always like to read about everyone else's ponds. Please post pictures!

I still read everyday or so. Tell us what you are working on...

    Nice!

This is where I am at so far. I'm building up walls on the left side because it was not dug level.

I have been a member for about 9 years, don't connect often but couldn't have built a mature pond without the help from the old members, apparently all gone. Perhaps the attrition relates to the constant interruptions by Houzz? No pleasure in reading with those.

Yeah, it's tiny gray text for the forum, with lots of bright colored advertising to the right. They discovered a place where lots of readers came and bought it believing that they could profit from our wallets but now most are gone.

Im happy that some remain but the activity and personal investment is no longer here. Houzz has killed it.

    im gone too.

Oh, I get big ads that nearly obscure the whole screen almost every time I scroll through the individual posts here. I miss the experts, the plain friendly and the eccentrics as well as special sections with great folks. Good luck finding a site.

Hmm. I get small adds on the right side at the top, but there wasn't anything down where your post (above) is. I think I am using spam blocker.

Settiano, before you go, what are you using for liner? Your pic makes it look unusual.

I have the ads on the side but I get big panels right across the screen, mostly promoting Houzz products, offerings, sometimes hard to delete. Rhyme and reason escape me but the way to the exit is clear. Nice talk to a fellow ponder tho. Luck with yours. If there is still an archive, search for mgeca and pond photos.

mgeca, I searched on you and the first thing I found from 2007 was this
    beautiful pic of stream

that you made. Very impressive. Yes, all of horton, you and everyone is still there/here.

Thanks for the compliment. Changes and vegetation and maturity have changed it all a lot--looks natural enough to fool first time viewers. A lot of work cleaning in the spring, adjusting tons of stones. Either they have gotten heavier or I have gotten older. There are some winter pix somewhere show a beautiful winter wonderland before an ice dam flooded me at 16F. Horton, Mike White, David ? really experienced and very generous with help--made my pond a reality, others, and I miss the eccentrics. If you want I will try to find photos on another computer and send on to you. Mucking out in between here, almost ready to go
