You can always go with blinds! I have a similar sized window above my sink in the kitchen and it is flanked with kitchen cabinets. There is not enough room to install a curtain rod to hang curtains. We just replaced the vinyl blinds with Levolor Blinds from Lowes because they can be cut down to what size you need. Our window is an odd size and that worked for us!

Micro mini blinds would add privacy and you can order made to measure in colors.

Go with up/down pleated shades. Get the light when you want & the privacy when you need it.

My daughter ordered her micros from JCPennys and they sent her color samples. They fit so nice and close to edges inside mount. They almost disappear.

Don't know what your decorating is like, but would sustainable bamboo roll-up shade work...you can get those in different colors...?? I do like the roll-up shade concept with that window better than blinds...! However, it you did go with blinds, I would go with the plantation blinds look which resemble more of a shutter style than a thin blind...! Tell us about your decorating theme...! ;D

@cowgirl theme? hmm I was planning on painting the kitchen walls a very light blue putting in light gray floors and painting the face of the cabinets light gray also (can't afford to redo kitchen.working on reporpusing what I have)

You could do micro blinds for privacy. They will disappear under pretty faux roman shades when you put them up. I agree the roman shade would look nice but raising and lowering them can be a pain. Micros with decorative shade over is best of both worlds.
