Looks like Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Aurea'. Not a dwarf form.

Multiple yellow Hinoki are on the general market - I wouldn't assume this was 'Aurea' just going by a picture taken from a distance.

Yes, I agree, but it's the most common in most places and worth a good guess.

Most of the newer ones are smaller, either in genetics or just aren't large yet.

The coloring is similar but I am not sure the branching is right for that one. When North American Landscape Trees (A.L. Jacobson, Ten Speed Press, Berkeley) came out in 1996 'Aurea', 'Crippsii', 'Gracilis Aurea' (23 ft. tall in Seattle, at that time) and 'Tetragona Aurea' were all designated as "Common".

I wasn't making a positive ID, I just said it 'looks like'. I'm sure we can rule out 'Crippsii' and Tetragona Aurea'.

What do you think it is?
