Hi! Do you have any pictures of the kitchen you did in Grey Owl? I'm about to order cabinets in this colour but I'm worried it's not as dark as I want..

Grey Owl is not very dark. In terms on darkness/lightness it's about that same as the photo above. Attached is a photo of the grey owl kitchen range wall. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for your response! I have been testing an embarrassing amount of gray paints in the last month. I have narrowed it down to Gray Owl or thunder. And Hale Navy for the island. Can't decide!!!

I know how it is. Color is tough. My client really loves the color. It's very neutral and works with a wide range of colors. Depending on the lighting you might see green, blue, or gold at any given time. Good luck to you!

Kwareham- I'm having same dilemma as you. I can spend hours looking at colors and still not be sure but I think it helps when photos are posted. And the lighting is important to, my current kitchen has very poor lighting which makes selecting color difficult. I love gray owl!

Yes! Lighting- both natural and man made- has a huge impact on color. Also, other colors in the room, or outside, bounce off the color you are choosing making even more of a difference. Color selection a very elusive task! :)

I ended up going with Grey Owl for the cabinets.. Felt it was the safest choice. Hale Navy for the island. Thinking I might paint the walls 'simply white' in hopes to make the grey owl pop and less chance of reflecting another colour. Thoughts?!

Hi, thank for the input, I was looking to paint my cabinets Mindful Grey with a darker grey on the walls.... I feel mindful gray is a little too dark do you have other suggestions for it to look like this kitchen

I assume you are talking about Sherwin William's Mindful Gray? If so, you could use that on the walls and SW 7014 Eider White on the cabinets (see photo). Alternatively, you might considering using Eider white everywhere for a more monochromatic look, like I did with the kitchen above using Benjamin Moore's Gray Owl. Hope that helps!

Question for you - We are building a timber frame home with medium gray concrete floors. I was thinking of doing this walls in eider white. The beams are a medium brown stained hemlock. I was trying to figure out what colors to do the kitchen cabinets? the same? the house is rustic with a modern twist. thing of doing the island in some kind of wood....

All of that sounds really good! The cabinets white and the island stained to match the beams sounds great. Just put a few stain and paint samples up next to each other and see what you think of them. Best of luck! Leigha

    hi there,
I am having a super difficult time with picking my island colour. right now I have a coffee bean maple shaker cabinet with brown flooring. I am putting in arebescato poloshed quartz and want a light warm grey island to match. I have looked at Barron plain and stone harbour and I want to find something in between. do you have any suggestions?

We bought a house that washed in gray throughout. We are renovating our kitchen and would like a black stain maple island. We are struggling with an off white to complement the island and warmer hickory floor but not turn yellow in this west facing room. Other colors in adjacent room are peppercorn, moderne white (throughout), pre white on ceilings (throughout) and sensible hue in family room which opens to kitchen. Again trying to work with gray but make it less prominent. Any suggestions? Moderne white was one direction but it does turn green.

Getting just the right white can be a challenge. My recommendation is to paint out several boards or order samples and keep trying until you get it right. Some paint stores have colorists on staff that you can turn to for help as well. Good luck!
