Variation for my Planters

I have a planter in it is pink muhly grass, trailing lantana, red salvia, new zeland flax. I had planted two small hebe but they have not done well I live in zone 9 Southern California. I feel like I need some kind of height in here 3-4 ft any suggestions.Thank you in andvance for any input
