Is Drawer Dishwasher any good?

We are remodeling our kitchen and in the market of dishwasher. We don't use dishwasher very much because it is hard to accumulate enough dishes to wash. We mostly use dishwasher as a drying rack.

And then, I noticed there are single drawer dishwashers that seems like perfect size for us.

But then these dishwashers seems very uncommon. Major retailers do not carry them. Some reviews mentioned they are unreliable. And it seems there is only one manufacturer - Fisher-Paykel. There are Kitchenaid but I can only find it in Sears Outlet.

Are these drawer dishwashers any good? Why aren't they popular?

I love my Fisher-Paykel Dish Drawers! We have the double (some kids still at home, at least in summer), and this is the third home I had them installed in. They had just been introduced years ago when I selected them for my first remodel. I was leery at first but quickly became a convert. I too, have heard that they can be unreliable but I have not had a problem with mine over the years, with the exception of a basket part that broke and I called this on-line Fisher-Paykel supplier who had the small part delivered to me the next day! They are so much more practical than the previous dishwashers I've owned. In our case, with the double, I can be running one and don't have to clean it out immediately to use it. I can simply start filling the other. And I find them very roomy. Can easily see how using a single for a small family, couple, or single person would be quite sufficient. And they are quiet!! I'm a big fan.

The drawers are pretty nice but they are problematic. My sister has them and has required somewhat expensive repairs a couple of times because they leak. As another option, some full size dishwashers have a special cycle for a half load. My Thermador dishwasher has that feature, and perhaps others do too. The Thermador dishwasher had been very reliable, very quiet, and does a good job.

I've had Fisher-Paykel dish drawers for the past 7 years, and love them. We are a family of 3, and being able to have flexibility for loading/unloading and clean vs. dirty is perfect for us. Zero problems with them so far (knock on wood).

My current home has two of these. One kitchen and one in the butlers pantry. They are great. We have been in this house three years and no problems. I have also had the double drawer version in two previous homes and no problems with either of those. They look very stylish in the cabinets.

I love mine - it is in my baking area and I use it for large bowls, food processor, etc. My main dw died and the FP stepped up and carried the load!

My daughters have the double drawer and I’ve had to replace the circulating motor on both drawers twice! At 350 a crack! So not a big fan. U6 error code is generated and the plastic agitation arms of the motor wear out.
