What GG48 said, but I would be looking for a new landscaper who is a bit less free-handed with the strimmer or modifying the bed margins to make them clearer. Some plants don't do well with this treatment.

Immediately after I saw the damage, I considered finding another. I called my landscaper, left a somewhat emotional message, and he returned my call. He was apologetic said he was cleaning out the flower beds, although I didn't ask him too, and he cut the plants. He said for me to buy replacement plants and he would pay. Sigh...I like this guy. And the price he charges per mow compared with other local businesses is incomparable. So I dont know. I think I will give him another chance and in the meantime ask around for some referrals.

Paulina, this guy sounds like he is teachable. I'd see how it goes and not have him pay for anything. As others pointed out, clematis will be fine & the lamb's ear will recover too. My DH has been known to wipe out a Chester blackberry after explicit instructions to be mindful (showed him plant, yada yada). He also wiped out an 'Angel Face' rose; a small perennial columbine.... stuff happens.
