Pump suggestions please

I have had a pond master mag drive pump 1500gph for 25 years and I am going to have to replace it. I hope it will limp thru the rest of this year--until October. I have replaced the impeller 4 times over the last 25 years. Usually when the power would go off and then come back on it would tear up the impeller. I now have to give the pump a thump with a rock to get it started so I guess it is on its last legs. This has been a great pump but surely there have there been improvements in the last 20 years. What would you recommend?

I like my in pond 2300 (or 2500?) mag drive Laguna pump. I have no reason to think it is superior to others except to say that it has not failed in the 7 or 8 years it has been running 24/7/365 (except last year when I shut it down in winter). Our power goes out often and on many of those occasions, we get multiple perhaps one half second off/on power resets. Every year or so, the impeller gets tangled up with vine like weeds and the pump has essentially run with a partially or completely stopped impeller until cleaned up, and this has caused no damage.

I will check out it's reviews. I was hoping that the newer ones used less electricity. The mag drives are more power efficient.

I love Danner/Pondmaster mag drive pumps. Your report of 25 years of great service should tell you all you need to know. They have a fine reputation. I would think that Danner would have developed or at least implemented any improvements in the latest models of their pumps. You could visit http://dannermfg.com/ to see all of their brands and research new models.

Yes; except for the possible/probable association of impeller damage and power failures.

Well, that's why you and I and others get mag drive pumps!

Rarely have power failures here in Albuquerque, but when we do I've had no impeller damage that I know of, so I guess that has been fixed for at least the last 15 years.

look at the fish mate 2300,it is energy efficient, and has more head pressure than most pumps

Thanks for all your recommendations. If the impeller is not having a problem after power loss I will look at the same pump as what I have for a replacement. It has been a great pump and the price is better than others I have been looking at.
