In fall when the lily foliage has browned and dried is the best time to lift and separate true lilies (bulbs). Be careful when you do so, as the bulbs are delicate and can be damaged easily whenever you dig.

By stellas, I assume you mean Stella D'Oro dayliles. Daylilies - Hemerocallis - are not true lilies or bulbs and can be dug and divided just about whenever you like. They are pretty much indestructible!! Fall would be an ideal time for them as well.

Thank you for the help...It will take me until Fall to get the spot ready for the lilies...we have a lily farm near by and over the years I have gotten some really pretty lilies and they need to be put in a place of honor....Also have quite a few Stella D'Oros that need to be separated....Thanks again.......
