Regarding range hoods.........

I live in a condo. Our range hoods in the kitchen are NOT vented to the outside - they just suck up the air through a filter and recirculate ?clean? air. The unit I have now is an under cabinet flat thing. I would like to remove the two upper cabinets over it and get one of those really nice range hoods that come down from the ceiling. Do I look for a wall mounted hood or ceiling mounted hood? Kind of a joke really since it won't be doing any either.

There are a number of recirculating hoods available. I find the AJ Madison website useful to look across brands.

It might seem a little intimidating since there are 629 matches, but narrow it down further by the width of your opening, price point, and by the look/appearance you want and it will drop further.

You say the range hood is not vented to the outside, but could it be vented to the outside?

Wall mounted....ceiling mounted it generally means that it is freestanding on the four sides you only needed to be freestanding on the front side

To "Dream"....My condo is about 8 years old. the cabinet manufacturer (I think) is Beckermann, wood = Maple, style = Monarch, finish = Hazelnut

Try asking or searching in the Appliances forum. I believe there is one recirc hood (a zephyr model, maybe?) that is much superior to any of the other options, but it is expensive. It's been discussed there before.

Thank you mizsusan, I picked a maple shaker style with hazelnut stain so I was trying figure out whether yours would be a good representation of what we would end up with.
