When I reseeded I put down Milorganite along with the starter fertilizer in the new reseeded area. I am ready to apply more Milorganite to the rest of the lawn. Would it be okay to spread more Miloranite on the reseeded area?

    Thanks

    Where do you live?

What kind of seed did you use?

    Zone 5, southern coastal Maine.

I used Jonathan Greene Premium Ultra, KBG, fescue blend.

    Thanks

When I reseed in late August are there any other special steps I need to take to prep the area or do I just spread more seed?

Should I apply more starter fertilizer?

    Thanks

Are you overseeding or looking to do a full renovation?

    Overseeing

I believe if you're mowing high you should be just fine. Spread seed on a dry day so it gets to the bottom. Odds are there is enough phosphorus in your soil for the new seed but they should have everything you need.

do you have a recent soil test?

Lawn is no where close to being mowed.

    Sorry for the confusion.

It was a renovation 2 weeks ago.

Grass is just starting to sprout.

    Thanks

Ah I see, I don't think it's crucial to overseed in the first season unless you see some really bare areas. It likely looks pretty thin right now but give it some time to see what sprouts.

The loam was builder grade stuff with a lot of weed seed in it.

Going to use PSU4ME's seed sowing schedule of 8/13/2016 following a 1/4" spread of compost and milo and starter fertilizer application followed by a 1/4" to 1/2" compost topcoat.

    What do you think?

    Any thoughts.

My goal is to try and improve the soil along with trying to grow grass.

    Thanks

Do you have any drainage issues? You'll need to keep the grade in mind if you're adding soil. The compost topcoat - i would add that later in the cycle if you must as you don't want that to bury any of the seed.

Good luck, i'm taking on 13k sqft and am hoping to grow a decent lawn.

    No drainage issue.

Being two hours away and only there on week-ends is the problem.

I have the area on a water timer, gut I can't adjust for the weather.

PSU4ME I also live in central Mass, and my lawn at home is suffering just like yours.

Very similar symptoms; the lack of rain is killing us.

Good luck with your reno; keep us posted.
