Could you use a different (more contrasting) color on the ceiling to set if off? When you say plank, are you meaning something like beadboard?

You could paint the ceiling a slightly darker color than the walls or go a deep, dark color that goes with the room. That's very popular right now.

I think the ceiling looks nice as it is.

what about stikwood? they have several different finishes and it's not a heavy material. I agree with not going dark, wither white or light

I like the idea. I believe someone indicated that you might be able to use laminate on the ceiling. Armstrong makes a ceiling plank product.

Great idea. While I love the driftwood thing, and have it in my own home, with your dark colonial wicker and high ceilings I think you would achieve the most impact with the coffee brown ceilings.

What is Stikwood? I too am considering a wood planked ceiling. Feel my product choices are limited though. Seem to find cheap and tacky oor medium range but requiring lots of staining and sanding or very high end. The Armstrong tiles might fit the bill. Any other suggestions for actual planking product to use please?

Armstrong is pricing out at 60 bucks per 40 Sqft. Not including their EZ Up system. There are YouTube videos of installs. Looks pretty cool but it's made out the same material as acoustical ceiling tiles.

So I think I am leaning toward the white plank, and then darkening up the beam. My beams are white. Any thought if it makes more sense to faux paint like a wood (gel stain?) or wrap the beam with wood?

The dark beams and white ceiling would give you the best of both worlds!
